Let go. Now.
Move on. So easy to do.
SNAP!
It is gone.
Vague recollections of
once intertwining last names
and enjoying the humidity
of intimate graces.
Love, mystery being.
Soft easy warm slow breaths.
A depth never ending,
A life worth repeating.
Ground zero.
The eye.
Complete peace.

Can you imagine
They still remember
After all this time
They don't forget
The trauma
The pain
The anxiety
Yet something still stays
Within them
Not an ugly memory
But a pleasant truth
That you love them
no matter what.

When I Was A Child
When I was a child
I drew a picture of a house
With a window and a door
one tree and one flower
A line for the ground
And clouds for the sky
A circle for the sun
With sticks for its rays
A scribble for the grass
and mountains in the
background.
I drew all this
when I was a child.
I used red for the house
orange for the sun
yellow for the flower
and green for the tree
and the grass,
Blue for the sky
and white for the clouds
Brown for the tree trunk
and mountains.
I colored my picture
That I drew...
And sometimes
I added a rainbow--
Which I though
made my picture
perfect.

And I See You (NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
I kneel at your cribside
doting on your every move
The rise of your chest
with every breath
The way you hungrily suck
on your pacifier
The curve of your fingers
around my pinky
Wires and tubes connect
you to evidence of life
in you
I wonder silently
when will you walk
or even crawl
when will you
inspire the air
on your own
I'd like to see your smile
and hear your gurgling laugh
watch as you pen your first scrawl
and color your first rainbow
chase that butterfly
Today I am grateful
to listen to your heart
to know you can pee and poop and cry
to see you sleep with
peace on your brow
Touching your head
and feeling the
fine hair so soft on
my fingertips
Knowing you are here today
I will feed you
I will help you breathe
I will change your diaper
I will care for you.
